Planetshakers Band is, without a doubt, one of the world’s most loved and celebrated Christian bands of our time. They have released 30 internationally acclaimed albums, countless sold-out international tours, and conferences. The world has truly been shaken by these young on-fire worshippers, who have pioneered a brand-new sound, leading people young and old, from all around the world, into genuine encounters with God through music. When we heard Planetshakers Church was launching a campus in our city, of course, we had to go check it out.

Pastor Russell Evans and his wife Pastor Sam Evans are the joint founders and global senior pastors of Planetshakers Church and ministry. Based in Melbourne, the Christian megachurch has several campuses in Australia, with congregations in South Africa, Singapore, the United States, Switzerland, and Papua New Guinea.

The new Sydney campus is led by pastors Grant & Heidi Thompson. Pastor Grant preached, and delivered a powerful, uplifting, and anointed word from God that spoke to us all in unique ways. The worship team (as expected) were absolutely going off. Everyone in the room is putting everything they’ve got to see Jesus is exalted. A glorious encounter followed as the house becomes flooded with the very presence of God in an intimate, powerful way. And seriously, isn’t this why we all came?

Planetshakers Church’s concert style of worship is a major draw card for the younger generation, and the new church plant is strategically located right next to Macquarie University, in the northern suburbs of Sydney.

The salvation of souls is of utmost importance and Planetshakers Church Sydney campus is shaking the next generation all the way to the cross. Praising, Dancing, singing, jumping all the way into our Father’s arms, through Christ.

During the whole service, we felt such a joy in the room and I’m going to say it – I haven’t had this much fun in ages. Plus, we were made to feel very welcome.

On the drive home, my wife turns to me and says, “I love this so much. This feels like home, let’s come back next week”

For 2 full days we’ve been PlanetShaken — well awakened, revived, astounded & amazed. What a massive event in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. It’s been a powerful encounter with the Lord, one that has changed everything.

Its January 29-30, 2016, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia: We arrived by bus from Penang. I’ve been hoping to see Planetshakers live for years, and this year God took us all the way. We joined more than 5000 people, mostly youth, truly worshiping the King of Kings, lifting up the name of Jesus, and encountering God in the absolute coolest, earth-shaking way possible.

Its more than another conference, and more than a worship music event. It’s a powerful, dynamic, Spirit-filled, ultra-modern, high-tech, dance/pop, web 2.0, 2016-style rock-and-roll revival my friends. It started with a vision given to Pastor Russel Evans by the Lord more than 20 years prior— to run with this flame to the nations, to win the youth to Christ through powerful, anointed, contemporary praise, worship, and preaching. To God be all the Glory.

This is Planetshakers Awakening Malaysia 2016. Their Roland synths stop-start our dancing, we are all blasted by His glory. As we sing to Jesus’ praise, we are taken up into heaven. Or is it heaven coming down? It’s both! Strengthened, encouraged, now rejoicing, shouting—man, is this for real? Who knew worship could be this powerful, spiritual, and dare I say it:  fun? Oh, I can hear the religious grumble.  Yes—powerful, spiritual, and fun!  Praise the Lord.

Jesus shows up in power and glory to meet His people, we are dancing rejoicing with the Spirit of God Himself. Spotlights blaring, and lasers & strobes are flaring. Guitar, drum and synth-wielding hipster worship pastors lead the youth into His presence. The band played favorites like “Endless praise”, “This is Our Time” & “The Anthem and”, the set meshed with tracks from the new #LETSGO Album “Just one touch” & “It’s All About You”.

With the back few rows of the hall still empty, organizers decided to announce they are opening the doors to the evening sessions of the event for free. The band tells the crowds to get onto Facebook and tell their friends! The crowd live-uploads photos to Facebook, showing the world the display and inviting their friends to join the next session, free of charge. And wow, and it really worked. An extra 2000-3000 young Malaysians rock up to rock the Sunway pyramid down!

This is unreal. So truly unreal! Now because of the extra crowds, the wait in line to get into the free evening session was hell for an old man like me (lol, like 41-now old), but I felt like I was 17 again, lining up to get into U2’s ZOOTV in Sydney. But inside was heaven on earth. Glory. Such joy I feel here for the first time in ages. Praise the Lord.

We are all wiped out by the Holy Spirit and hungry for so much more. The Words preached were the Lord speaking directly to each of us, truly transforming.

A mix of live music, preaching, electives, and youth antics…. this event will be long remembered as one that sparked a special flame in the hearts of our young Malaysian friends who will go on to impact their city, their country, their nation, and the nations of the world for Christ.

The event is scheduled again for next year under the huge new banner “Planetshakers Awakening Asia”
